Master’s College Eagles Athletics

Our Athletic Department is endeavouring to:

  • Retain student-athletes throughout Grades 7-12

  • Provide our student-athletes with the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork, a strong work ethic, individual skill development, friendships, positive experiences and commitment while playing as a Master’s College Eagle

  • Expect our student-athletes to be academically eligible to participate

  • Expect our student-athletes to value Christian character, integrity and sportsmanship while representing Master’s College on and off the playing field

  • Expect our parents and coaches to display the highest level of character, support and sportsmanship for each other, opponents, and officials while keeping in mind that the most important people in the athletic experience are the students

The Master’s College Athletic Philosophy, or how we are endeavouring to see this happen, is as follows:

All teams will have:

  • Coaches who are committed to the Athletic Department Vision, are equipped to coach and support their team, and will aim to allow student-athletes to have the most playing time possible

  • Student-athletes and parents who have been informed of the Athletic Department Vision and who have signed a ‘Master’s College Athlete Contract’

  • Long-term player development that includes teaching basic skills that can be further developed as the student-athlete progresses from year to year

Grade 7 or 7/8 Teams

  • A focus on skill development and fair play for all committed athletes

  • An emphasis on strong basic skills in Grades 7-8

  • There will be a ‘Fair Play’ philosophy; with the amount of playing time being determined by the athlete’s commitment to team practice, their coachability and character

  • The primary goal is having players feel a sense of enjoyment and athletic development

  • Each major team will consist of approximately 12 students (numbers of students may change based on the sport)

  • Commitment to playing on the team outside of the school will include: games on Tuesday and/or Thursday, year end tournament, possibly one other weekend tournament, possibly some out of school practices

Grade 8/9 Teams

  • A focus on further skill development and game strategies.

  • There will be a ‘Competitive Play’ philosophy, meaning there is a commitment to practice, to the team and to winning. This is expected of the student-athlete, with the amount of playing time being determined at the discretion of the coach with not all athletes receiving equal play opportunities.

  • Each major team will consist of approximately 12 students (numbers of students may change based on the sport)

  • Commitment to playing on the team outside of the school will include: games on Tuesday and/or Thursday, playoffs, weekend tournament(s), and possibly out of school practices

Senior High (Grades 10 -12)

  • A program that continues on the foundation built in Junior High

  • An increased commitment level by student-athletes, coaches and parents is required

  • There will be advanced skill development and more game opportunities

  • Not all players who try out for the team will make the team

The fee for a lost or damaged jersey is $250.
